Critics & Reviews

The pieces compiled by the pianist Antoinette Van Zabner on her new CD »Bridges to Beyond« are balm for the soul. Music which, in her calm rendering, not only invites listening but also enables one to submerge oneself into it. An immersion which probes unimagined depths of human emotion and which explores hidden areas of the subconscious. Preludes by Alexander Scriabin, Karol Szymanowski and Frederic Mompou are included, as are treasures by Claude Debussy, Enrique Granados and Francis Poulenc in a masterfully unpretentious interpretation (Gramola 98829).

Her playing was warm, seductive and in effect brought the house down. An American pianist has conquered Vienna.

It was an outstanding performance and a highlight of our concert season. The program, especially the works by Claudio Santoro and Heitor Villa-Lobos, was a significant contribution toward the OAS objective of promoting the musical development of the Hemisphere.

The pianists Waltraud Wulz und Antoinette Van Zabner from Vienna were the best piano duo of this Summer.
City Weekend, Beijing

The evening concert treated us to two Austrian pianists: Waltraud Wulz and Antoinette van Zabner, who surprised the audience with their exceptional mastery of the piano and their consummate interpretive rapport. They seemed to create a single voice, their playing was of incomparable melodic richness, perfect in accord and with mutual understanding at the touch of each note.
It was a really gripping performance, wonderful, really extraordinary. And the audience thanked the visibly exhausted pianists with thundering applause. After a short breather the artists presented us with the Blue Danube waltz as an encore, which can only be played by the Viennese in such a light and transparent style. It was a wonderful, incomparable evening!
